Liverpool FC was formed back in 1892. Today it attracts huge number of supporters from all over the world. Despite club’s success on the world scene, it has retained special association with its local supporters.
Liverpool FC scored its first ever win the same year it was formed. It played its first game in league football the following year. The club kept on moving forward and won promotion in 1894, in its first attempt. This was the time when Tom Watson arrived at the club as a manager and then took the club to its first ever championship.
The club won title again in 1906 and went on to win its first ever FA cup final in 1914. Club continued its success run throughout the next decade winning two consecutive titles in 1922-23 and 1923-24 seasons.
Although the club continued moving towards the greatness throughout these years, fans were feeling a little left out with inadequate facilities and capacity at the ground. Fan pressure forced the management to build a massive stand covered with roof, the Spion Kop. It later became famous for being the world’s noisiest football stand. It can hold up to 30,000 spectators at one time and these 30,000 spectators make all the noise that they can.
The club saw its decline after the second World War, although managed to win 1947 championship. In 1954 the club was relegated from top flight. The misery continued as Reds suffered their record defeat in 1954. Things improved a little in 1962 when the club was promoted back to the top flight. Liverpool FC was now having the best days of its history with many league wins, two UEFA cup trophies, and FA cup titles between 1962 and 1977.
After Liverpool’s poor performances between 1980 and 2000, the club saw its revival in 2000s with Super Cup win in 2001. Rafa joined the club in 2004 and took the club to its European win in 2005 for the second time in club history. Liverpool FC won a super cup under Rafa the same year. The club could not get back to the winning habits until 2012 when it managed to grab silverware after 6 years. The club was sold to NESV in 2012.
